I woke up this morning to another 3 inches of snow on the ground after what was probably one of the most spectacular days in the backcountry I’ve ever had: run after run through feet of the softest, fluffiest powder I’ve skied in yet. I didn’t even stop for a minute to take a picture! We were at one of the more popular areas around here and amazingly, we were the first and only ones to ski it all day, which means way more work breaking trail but way more powder too! Needless to say, we were all pretty exhausted last night and plopped down in front of a movie (the pup, Juno, just passed out entirely) and I finally made myself work on finishing up Beau. After a couple of hours of weaving in ends, I’m still only about half way through them all! Two words: spit. splice. I will never weave in so many ends again. And still the real challenge with finishing this sweater is going to be sewing in that zipper, which based on my recent progress will probably take the better part of a month.
I finished up the first Anemoi mitten on our way up to our fabulous ski day yesterday

And I absolutely love it! I don’t even want to mention how many photos I took of this thing. Suffice it to say, the never-ending winter weather around here (snow in the forecast for the whole week!) is more than enough motivation to finish a second mitten, and I already cast on for it yesterday.
In case I didn’t blather on enough about Rowan’s discontinued Yorkshire Tweed 4-ply in my last post, the Feral color is just about perfect for me: a rich, deep brown with flecks of red, gold and green. (Anyone else read that and instantly start humming Karma Chameleon? No? Just me then?)

You can really see the tweed colors in this flash-induced photo:

Yum.
Most of my sweater yarn goodness is on backorder, so it’ll be awhile before I can start swatching and scheming. So for now, the goals are to finish up Beau (this week!) and the Anemoi Mittens and to move on to Autumn Rose.

Cara! These mittens are BEAUTIFUL! I’m so amazed by your knitting.
BTW, Angela passed on your blog link (how’s Juno?).
And I passed it on to my friend Kitty who loves Eunny’s work and is currently knitting the Tangled Yoke Cardigan. Weird, huh?
I just took a basic chunky mitten class and am halfway through my first mitten. It’s nothing like your Anemoi but that’s ok. Maybe someday…
Best,
Kirsten
AHhh!!! Make me some and I’ll pay you! I’ve been meaning to take a knitting class but I have yet to find the time! I <3 Anemoi!!!!
